Cruise

Cruising is more than just a journey; it’s an experience brimming with luxuries, entertainment, and memories waiting to be made. For senior travellers over 70, cruises are a great way to relax, meet new people, and experience new places and cultures. As exciting as it sounds, it’s equally essential to ensure you’re safeguarded throughout your voyage. That’s where Just Travel Cover, with specialised insurance for those of all ages, sails into the picture, ensuring you can travel with confidence.

Activities for Senior Travellers:

The serenity of the sea, coupled with the wide range of activities on board, ensures that there’s never a dull moment on a cruise.

  • Spa facilities: Many cruise lines have luxurious spas onboard, meaning you can relax and unwind with treatments to rejuvenate both body and mind. If you prefer to keep moving, pools onboard aren’t just for leisure. Many offer aquatic aerobics or other fitness sessions suitable for seniors.
  • Cultural Tours: Many cruises offer guided walking tours at every port of call. These are not just a great way to see the place but also an opportunity to indulge in light physical activity. Some cruises in locations like Alaska or Scandinavia even offer nature tours to observe local wildlife. This is a great way to find your feet in a new area and see some hidden gems. If unforeseen changes disrupt any planned tours, some cruise Travel Insurance policies include an Itinerary Change benefit, meaning you could claim £750pp back, depending on the circumstances.
  • Dine in Style: Relish in the finest global cuisines while floating in the middle of the ocean. Cruises take culinary experiences to a whole new level, introducing you to flavours from every corner of the world while you sail through oceans and rivers. Some cruise lines even offer wine tasting and culinary classes where you can explore the world of wines and learn to make gourmet dishes with onboard sommeliers and chefs.
  • Craft and Art Classes: Create, learn, and indulge in art sessions. Many cruises offer art and craft workshops, ranging from pottery and painting to local craft forms from various port cities. Should you miss out on any pre-booked activity due to unforeseen circumstances, the Unused Excursions cover may compensate you up to £500pp.

Cruise Travel Insurance Benefits:

With Just Travel Cover, while all of our insurers cover cruises for cancellation, medical, baggage and more,  some provide specific benefits unique to cruising too. These additional  benefits include:

  • Missed Port Departure: Stay secured up to £1,500pp.
  • Cabin Confinement: Cover up to £1,500pp.

The ocean may be unpredictable, but with Cruise Travel Insurance, your journey doesn’t have to be.

Cruise Activities for Over 70s FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Cruise Activities for Over 70s.

I'm over 70 and have pre-existing medical conditions. Can I still get cover for my cruise?

Yes, Just Travel Cover offers bespoke insurance policies tailored to individual needs, including for those over 70 with pre-existing conditions. Each insurer and policy varies regarding destinations, duration of cruise, age and medical history, so make sure to read your policy wording thoroughly.

I have to cancel my cruise at the last minute. Will I get my money back through insurance?

This will depend on the reason for cancellation. Travel Insurance is the last resort when it comes to trying to claim your money back for cancellation. However, if for example, a change in medical circumstances, a family bereavement or redundancy prevents you from travelling, you may be able to make a claim. You’ll need to check the individual terms with your insurer and always check the limits. If you need more cover than you see on screen, give us a call to discuss “top up” cancellation cover up to £50,000.

If I need to leave the cruise for medical treatment, will my Travel Insurance cover the costs to rejoin the ship?

This depends on your insurer’s terms, however there are policies available with  cruise interruption cover, with up to £1,500 worth of cover.

What's the maximum cover limit for emergency medical expenses on a cruise?

Every policy is different, but all have sufficient cover, ranging from £5m to £15m – this includes additional accommodation expenses and repatriation, which can often easily run into the thousands or tens of thousands.

Are there any age limits or restrictions for Cruise Travel Insurance from Just Travel Cover?

We pride ourselves on being able to provide Travel Insurance for all ages. However, not all policies will be available to all travellers. When you enter your details, we’ll only show you prices from the insurers that can provide cover for you.
